The Plan of Beijing Municipality for Conservation and Development of Great Wall Culture Belt (2018-2035) was recently released.
Beijing Great Wall Culture Belt roughly accounts for 30 percent of Beijing's total urban area. The belt with a total area of 4,929.29 square kilometers is divided into the core area and the radiating area.
According to the plan, by 2035, Beijing is expected to ensure that the Great Wall and surrounding environment are free from dangers. It will establish a mechanism for the preventive protection of heritage through emergency rescue and daily maintenance. Doing this will help show the real and full look of Beijing's Great Wall heritage to the world. The mechanism will function in the long run, basically realizing the overall planning and segmental management of the areas along the Great Wall in Beijing.
